The Blood Borne Virus Health care team is a nursing service which provides primary health care to people with drug and alcohol problems across Lambeth and Southwark.
The team is made up of four specialist registered nurses who have various experience and expertise within the fields of subtance misuse and blood borne virus's.
The team aims to raise the awareness of substance misusers around blood-borne virus's, namely hepatitis and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), ultimately curbing the incidence of drug related deaths. The service offers on-site testing for blood borne virus's, vaccination against hepatitis A and B, wound care, health assessments and referral to specialist NHS services.
The team provides a peripatetic service, from weekly clinics at statutory and non-statutory drug services. We look to expand our service to other substance misuse service within Lambeth and Southwark. The team works closely with these agencies to provide an holistic readily accessible service.
